The Hero With A Thousand Faces

The Hero With A Thousand Faces

Joseph Campbell’s book is essential for anyone who wants to understand the hero’s journey because most of what you read about the hero’s journey is derived from this book.

Stealing Fire From The Gods

Stealing Fire from the Gods: The Complete Guide to Story for Writers and Filmmakers (2nd Edition)

James Bonnet’s, Stealing Fire From The Gods, is designed for screenwriters, but it don’t let that turn you off from this book if you are not a screenwriter. The value of this book is what it reveals about the life journeys of all of us. It identifies the hopes, dreams, fears, obstacles, temptations, and triumphs of every story, whether it is your own life story or the story of a fictional character. It will help you see where you are on your own storywheel, and give you clear insights into the roles other people play in your journey, both to help you and block you. This book comes with my highest recommendation as a tool to change your life by transforming your life story.

The Path Of Least Resistance

Path of Least Resistance: Learning to Become the Creative Force in Your Own Life

If I were to list the ten most influential books I have ever read, The Path Of Least Resistance by Robert Fritz would be on the list. The most important insight I got from reading this book years ago was the difference between creation and problem solving. This is a truly brilliant book, and rich with insight and meaning for you to become the creator of your own life story.

Apollo 13

Apollo 13 (Widescreen Collector’s Edition)

Apollo 13 is a stunning story about a moon mission that was a “successful failure.”

It’s a great story, filled with superb movie-making, rich with themes about problem solving, about success and failure, accomplishments and disappointments, about team efforts, about big dreams.

This DVD version also includes excellent commentaries by the Director Ron Howard and by Jim Lovell.

A Christmas Story

A Christmas Story (Two-Disc Special Edition)

A Christmas Story is an inspired movie about a child with a dream and the obstacles he faces to getting what he wants for Christmas. One obstacle is that the adult world continues to warn him about the dangers of having what he wants. Even though the story is about an air rifle, this story tells the truth how often well-meaning people attempt to protect us from what we want.

Groundhog DayGroundhog Day (Special 15th Anniversary Edition)

Groundhog Day is an exceptional movie about life change. It’s a different hero’s journey, in which the hero gets the chance to do the same day over and over again, until he is truly transformed by the process.

Joe Versus The Volcano

Joe Versus the Volcano

This is a movie that mixes life transforming insights with a lot of silliness. It is actually one of my favorite movies, despite some flaws. It also has some wonderful minor characters, and an excellent performance by Tom Hanks as Joe. Although it is usually classified as a romantic comedy, the real story is so much more compelling. The real value of this movie is the central question, What will you do, or not do, because of money?

Just about every character in the movie is living either more or less authentically because of life choices about money. I recommend it highly as a movie to watch with a notepad in hand, to discover the profound insights about money choices and living an authentic life.

What About Bob?

What About Bob?

The bonus report, “Do Positive Affirmations Or Success Stories Have More Power To Change Your Life?” uses this movie to demonstrate the difference between affirmations and stories to change your life. It is also a very well-done, funny movie.
