Make Choice to Change Life

How Could Your Freedom to Choose Change Your Life?

The Freedom to Choose

There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.

Your Life of Choices

Choice is the freedom to choose between options. Every day, over and over, you have the power to choose. The choices can be small choices. Do you choose to drink coffee or tea at lunch? Do you choose to wear a white shirt or a blue shirt to work? Do you choose to eat out or cook at home? Which parking space do you choose when you stop at the store?

If you stop and think about it, you will realize how much the quality and satisfaction of your life is the result of your choices. Throughout your life, you have thousands of opportunities to choose between options. Even if you have limited choices and don't like any of them, you still can choose between them. Sometimes, you are in a situation where you have only once choice, but those situations are few and far between.

Your Decisions and Your Life

Think of this. Every choice you make in life is one more decision about how you live your life. You have already made big life-changing big decisions about where you choose to live. You choose what kind of work you will do. You choose whether or not to marry. If you do choose to marry, you choose the person you marry. You choose what kind of education you seek. You choose the kind of food you eat. You choose your hobbies. You choose your religion or no religion. You choose how you spend your free time. You choose how you will vote or not vote. The list goes on and on, choice after choice, after choice.

How you live your life right now is the result of the choices you have made throughout your life. You might be thinking that you didn't choose your parents, you didn't choose where you grew up, you didn't choose many unwanted events in your life, such as the tornado that destroyed your house, or the storm that caused a tree to crash into your roof, or the traffic accident that killed someone you loved. But even with tragic, unexpected, devastating events in your life, you still get to make choices about how you will respond to these events.

This is why Denis Waitley's statement is worth pondering:

There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.
These words are both a challenge and an opportunity to consider what kind of life choices you are willing to make right now. You have already had a lifetime of experience in making choices about big and small matters. If you consider your life as it is right now as the collective result of thousands of choices, what additional choices could you make right now that would change your life for the better?

Denis Waitley is a motivational speaker and prolific writer. Seeds of Greatness is just one of his many success books. This is the description of the book.

In Seeds of Greatness, Denis Waitley shows how to nurture the greatness within you to develop a system that allows you to do in months what many psychologists take years to accomplish. Based on the ten attributes, or seeds, that can lead to a fulfilling life, Denis empowers you to change your life for the better.
