If you have always wanted to write, but don’t know where to begin or what to do, the internet provides a huge range of resources. Here are a just a few to help you focus on what kind of writing you want to do, and to help you get started.
- If you want to aim high, take a look at the News about Writing and Writers published regularly in the New York Times. It includes commentaries and archival articles about noted authors.
- Here’s a list of The 100 Best Websites for Writers in 2015 by Carrie Smith. She identifies eight website categories: blogging, creativity and craft, entrepreneurship, freelancing, literary agents, marketing, publishing, and writing communities. This resource will help you narrow your focus.
- Writer’s Digest.com describes itself as “the No. 1 Resource for Writers.” Take a look at its homepage to see the wide range of resources available on its website, including its monthly magazine, Writer’s Digest.
One of my own favorite resources is Easy Way to Write, by Rob Parnell. Unlike the previous resources, this blog is the work of a single writer who is both a prolific writer and personally accessible.
